Today was a relaxed and low key day, exploring Pinney’s Beach near Charlestown, looking at expensive yachts in the harbor, a visit to the island’s famous hot water springs and a very relaxed lunch at the picturesque Hermitage Inn. The Hermitage is a collection of brightly painted cottages around a 250 year old plantation great house. It was yet another splendid meal. The natural hot springs run through the south of Charlestown and are diverted into pools of various ages and conditions, some inviting, some not. In one pool a man had worked up quite a lather scrubbing himself with a very sudsy soap. We did not soak in the springs.
