Our sibling trip just before the arrival of COVID was to Norway. My sisters and I, one niece and one brother-in-law met in Bergen where we spent a few days enjoying the city. We then boarded a Hurtigruten ship (a very comfortable mailboat), that made stops all along the coast from Bergen to Kirkeness on the Russian border. We crossed the Barents Sea and the Article Circle en route. Along the way we visited lovely small cities — Trondheim, Aalesund, Svolvaer, Tromso, Hammerfest. Tricia and I stayed a few days in Bergen after everyone left and took the “Norway in a Nutshell” excursion which includes rail, sailing on one of the fjords, and a 3,000 foot ascent in 20 kilometers on the Flam railway.
