Cartagena, Day 2

My first good look at the city came at night and it impressed me. I was even more impressed this morning when we set out for a walk around the old city. The bright colors of the buildings, bougainvillea and flowers were magnificent. The city was every bit as lively as last night. We walked a bit of the old city walls and poked our heads in several churches. There were stops in several shops selling the works of local artisans. The most interesting was an artists’ collective where the quality was superb. an enormous breakfast tidied us over through the day, but there was a break with coconut lemonade and pan d’oro. Late afternoon in the hotel pool.
