It has been bitterly cold, a touch of snow and sometimes stiff winds that cut through the heaviest of parkas, but it has been a lovely time. There was a bit of shopping, a lot of window shopping, dinner with Hartford friends who have retired to New York and a splendid high tea at The Whitby Hotel. I also revisited the Siena 1300-1350 exhibit at the Met, the Lehman Wing collection and the American wing with its new Tiffany-like stained glass acquisition. A highlight was The Morgan Library’s exhibitions on Belle daCosta Greene and Franz Kafka. Christmas decorations still in place at Rockefeller Center.
